今回紹介する曲は、ビートルズの「Eleanor Rigby」(エリナー・リグビー）です。
この曲は1966年8月に「イエロー・サブマリン」との両A面シングルとして発売されました。
また、同時発売された7作目のビートルズのオリジナル・アルバム「リボルバー」にも収録されています。主にポールがこの曲を書きました。
私が初めてビートルズの曲をいろいろ聞いたときに「あ！この曲いいなぁ！😆」とピン💡✨ときたものが、このボールが書いた「Eleanor Rigby」でした。
曲調が何よりもいいんですよね！
ジョージ・マーティンがアレンジを手掛けた弦楽八重奏がグッときます。
歌詞は「孤独な人々」孤独や死を扱った楽曲で、物語調の歌に仕上がっています。
ちなみに、ポールはタイトルの名前の「エリナー」という名前については、映画「ヘルプ!」で共演した女優エリナー・ブロンから、
姓のリグビーはポールがブリストルを散歩している際に見かけた会社の名前から思いついたことを明かしています。
この曲からいろいろなアーティストがインスピレーションを受けていて、有名どころで言うと、ザ・フーのピート・タウンゼントが、作詞作曲の面で刺激を受けたとインタビューで語っています。
